What does THE STEAM TRAIN do for you?

When we lie down on a bed and close our eyes, we are at our most vulnerable point. People sleep in a state of semi-unconsciousness and have no external defense mechanism for microscopic organisms. The Steam Train eliminates all harmful living organisms from the areas we sleep. Through a Patent Pending process, The Steam Train kills living, and decomposes residual matter. Thus eliminating, the risk of being infected by a virus, mold, parasite, germ, bed bug or any of the harmful organisms that can cause illness, discomfort, or even death. People are concerned about these issues, but have had no other choice but to sleep where hundreds of others have. We unfortunately don’t know whom or what has slept in the exact same place that you will sleep the next time you travel. The Steam Train is committed to preventing these organisms from reaching epidemic levels. Ideally, a hotel would replace every mattress, every 90 days, but that’s not cost effective. Through 90 day sterilization cycles, we achieve the same result. When a Steam Train Certified Technician takes a hotel mattress set to our Steam Containment unit, it most certainly has been exposed to some undesirable activity and consequently is a petree dish of,“YUCK”. Once removed from our Patent Pending flash steam immersion system,it is sterilized all the way through, and is STEAM TRAIN CERTIFIED. Our job is not done there, we also flash steam the areas of the hotel room that typically will house these same harmful organisms. Additionally, Technicians and trained K-9’s inspect regularly to insure the safest environment for your most vulnerable time, your sleep time. The Steam Train Technician then stamps the placard in each room with the date of last certification so you can… Relax, we’ve been there.

What's the problem with "Shared bedding"?

Problem:
Have you ever wondered what was in that hotel mattress you were sleeping on? There is a growing concern for the unsanitary condition of shared mattresses today. As people are becoming more health conscience and acutely aware of the health risks associated with hotel, hospital, dorm room, and other mattresses used by different people. It's funny, people won't wear the same "t" shirt 2days in a row without washing it, yet they have no other choice but to sleep where 2000 others have slept without a single sterilization cycle. We have an engineered, patent pending, complex, yet affordable solution. We are able to completely eliminate all living organisms, including; germs, viruses, dust mites, bed bugs, etc. This is a proprietary truck mounted mattress containment unit that flashes the mattress with dry steam. This brings the mattress set back to like new condition relative to parasites and disease. This service costs the hotelier less than a dollar a day per room, and ultimately drives up sales through higher occupancy. Additionally, it minimizes the loss of revenue that hotel owners are experiencing today from law suits related to unsanitary conditions. The recent infestation of bedbugs around the world has the hotel industry, as well as homeowners, cruise lines, hospital patients and many hospitality groups not "Sleeping Tight". Hoteliers are throwing mattresses into the trash, regardless of age, at the first indication of bedbugs. Consumers are suing hotel chains after being exposed to bedbugs during their overnight stay. Websites like bedbugregistry.com are tracking the reports on a minute to minute basis, with thousands upon thousands of reports collected from cases in the United States and around the world. Major news organizations continue to report daily on this epidemic. There are no pesticides that can effectively solve this problem. Bedbugs are already immune to today's pyrethroids and other synthetic, pesticidesthey quickly develop immunity to new chemicals. Besides the fact that these increasingly ineffective chemical measures don't kill the bedbugs, they cannot be applied to the mattress or even in its vicinity. There a many accounts of injury to humans and even deaths associated to their use. The legal cost as well as the loss of revenue from negative publicity is very high. This is creating a call for a solution which not only eradicates bedbugs but also eliminates any living organisms residing in the mattress including lice, germs, dust mites, and roaches by making the mattress completely sterile. Consumers are progressively more aware and concerned about disease and germs around the world. Shared mattresses have become a major concern, with reports stating that as many as two thousand people will sleep on the same hotel mattress before it is disposed of after 3-8 years of use. There currently exists no way to completely clean or sterilize the mattress during its use. The weight of a mattress will double over the course of its average life cycle from the accumulation of dead skin, dust mites, and parasites. In fact, the term "life cycle" is rather appropriate here because the mattress becomes the home of living organisms which subsist on the dead skin and sweat. Eight percent of Americans as well as 300 million people worldwide have asthma. The staggering number of annual deaths resulting from asthma has been the impetus for asthma groups to focus a lot of energy on educating the population who have asthma, as well as the parents of children suffering from the disease. They recommend removing the carpet from the bedroom and doing "something" about the mattress and the dust mites within it. These dust mites are major contributors to the complications associated with asthma. They are an even greater problem in any location where mattress is shared, e.g. hospitals, college dorms, military bases, nursing homes, and cruise ships.

Solution:
One thing is clear... Steam kills bedbugs. Steam heated to an appropriate temperature kills these bugs instantly. All researchers have come to this simple conclusion. In fact, interestingly enough steam is used in the agricultural industry to sterilize soil before replanting because it kills all bio and organic matter on contact. Since bedbugs are imbedded deeply into mattresses and are able to migrate, hitting them with steam is difficult or impossible with today’s steam generators. At The Steam Train, we have solved this problem. The Steam Train has designed the world’s first mattress steam immersion unit. This (patent pending) process allows a mattress to be inserted into a mobile (truck mounted) steam pressure box to be flash steamed with super-heated dry steam. A specially engineered steam delivery system flashes the mattress, inside and out, with dry steam that is generated by a Thermal Steam generator using purified water. This system deposits very little moisture into the mattress. It is then moved into a dryer, where it is brought back to a 6-8% relative humidity level that is verified with a hydrometer. The mattress is sterilized, as if it were new. This is great news for travelers, hospital patients, college students, asthma and allergy sufferers, and anyone that doesn't like to sleep on filth. The upper thermal death point of a bedbug is 113 degrees F. We have successfully brought the core temperature of a mattress to 230 degrees while blasting the outside of it with 240 degree F. steam. This insures a sterilized product through and through. Research shows that 95% of bedbugs reside within 5 feet of a mattress in a hotel room. The Steam train uses the latest technology to identify if any other areas of the hotel room show evidence of bedbugs, and if so, these areas are treated with a custom built, proprietary steam generator applied by a trained technician. This unit is not a wet process, but rather works with steam vapor. It is DRY STEAM vapor, not to be confused with that of a steam carpet extractor, where steam is a bi-product of the hot water being used to clean the carpets, or a unit designed for home use. The SteamTrain uses dry steam to sterilize, and the steam vaporizes into the atmosphere. This is a completely "green" process that uses zero chemicals. Americans spend an estimated $10 billion a year on non-medicinal, consumer products marketed for people with asthma and allergies such as vacuum cleaners, air cleaners, bedding, toys, flooring and more. Between two million, and five million dust mites, (relatives of spiders) live in the average mattress. This is a major trigger for asthma and other allergy sufferers. Our process is the most effective way to eliminate them. Through regular scheduled service visits, people can live virtually "Mite Free".

Our new feature: Shared Bedding and mattress sterilization

Mattresses that are used on a temporary basis, potentially by many different people or groups of people. Hotels are the most common example for shared bedding. Hospitals, dorms, and military housing. One might sleep on shared bedding for 1 or more nights before moving on to another location leaving the mattress behind for the next person. .........More about "shared bedding and mattress sterization" will be updated soon!
